Christopher Luna, age 29, of Waterbury, was turned himself in to police on Monday, March 29, for the incident which took place on Tuesday, March 23, in Waterbury, said Waterbury Police Sgt Robert Davis.
According to Davis, when officers responded to the scene, they found two pedestrians were on the shoulder of the roadway in the area of 900 Meriden Road.
Both of the pedestrians were hit by a gold or tan-colored vehicle which fled the area.
One of the pedestrians had minor injuries and the other pedestrian, identified as Shane Dube, 49, of Wolcott, had serious injuries and later died.
During an investigation, police were able to obtain a photograph of the vehicle, and Luna was developed as a suspect.
He was charged with:
- Evading responsibility-death
- Tampering-physical evidence
- Illegal operation under suspension
- Operating an unregistered motor vehicle
- Illegal operation without minimum insurance
- Failure to drive in proper lane
Luna is being held on a $250,000 bond.
